Recipe for fish and brewis
Brewis is a kind of ship's biscuit or hard tack.
In Newfoundland, it's a traditional dish, served with fish. Here's how it's made:
2 cups fat pork
1 pkg. fillets of fresh fish
5 cakes hard bread (soaked in cold water overnight)
Fry fat pork until a little brown, add fish, cook until you can remove bones, add hard bread, bring to a boil, mash right away and serve. Preparation and cooking time: 30 minutes.
